I’m in love with a Portuguese “French Girl”

Maybe its her glow, the glistening sparkle oozing from within. Perhaps, her scent or that tantalizing look.

I just sat there with admiration.

I don’t really know what it is but I am in love with her.

Then with my fork and knife, I sliced her and took a bite… Damn you, Francesinha, why are you soooooo delicious….

Francesinha, little Frenchie or Frenchie in Portuguese, is a sandwich that originated in Porto.

There really is no traditional or standard recipe for Francesinha, and every restaurant or household has their own version. Although, a typical Francesinha is made of bread, cured ham, sausage, roasted meat, covered with cheese and then smothered with thick tomato and beer sauce. I usually order the "semi-vegetarian" option, with fresh tomatoes, greens, sausage and roasted turkey.
