Finally spring is here! I went on a quick hike to the Citadel of Liege (approx. 300ft above the Meuse river/valley) to enjoy the sun and some great views of the city. Liege is my adoptive city for now and it may not be the most “belle ville” in Belgium, it still has its hidden charms. However, It still puzzles me on how they allowed the city to harbor thin rectangular up-rise buildings (evidently, on the picture above) that seriously do not have any harmonious effect on the previous medieval to neo-classical architecture of Liege. As one of my colleagues told me (who is a proud “Liegeois”), it is the disaster of the 60’s to 70’s architecture after the industrial boom of Liege province. They could learn something from their neighbors in Luxembourg.
